Hyper-VCDX

Hyper-VCDX

A while back, I had the idea to combine the two terms Hyper-V and VCDX into Hyper-VCDX. Why? I thought the confusion it creates is rather funny. Because I can, is basically the best argument I have. I expanded on the original idea by smashing the company logo’s together and make stickers out of it. As you can see, the layout of the text Hyper-VCDX is identical to the Microsoft logo: identical font, and color. I also layered the VCDX logo on …

Looking to do a VCDX mock defense panel? Use the official timer!

I found a little gem on Twitter (mentioned by @amitchell01): the VCDX Timer app used in the actual defense. It’s been made public for use in mock defense panels. Download it here: http://www.definedbysoftware.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/timer.html or grab a copy from my blog in ZIP-format: VCDX Timer on VirtualLifestyle.nl

VCDX 101

VCDX 101

So, in addition to launching vcdx101.com (more news on that later), I also have successfully passed my VMware Certified Design Expert certification. My VCDX number is #101, and I am over the moon with the result. It wasn’t smooth sailing from the start, though. The preparation I’ve been considering going for VCDX since the VI3 days; but even reading through the blueprint was something I dreaded for a very long time. Seriously, I had that …

VMware VCDX Design Exam Preparation Resources

I’ve been preparing for the Design exam portion of VCDX for the last couple of days. Tomorrow is D-day for me! Meanwhile, some tweeps asked my what materials I used to prepare. Well, here you go: Obviously, use the VMware VCDX Community Documents and the VCDX Design Exam Blueprint. I’ve read ‘Mastering vSphere 4’ by Scott Lowe, which is a nice addition on some of the details on vSphere. Only read if you’ve got the time, it weighs in …

I’m very, very excited to share with you that I’ll present at the upcoming VeeamON event, October 6-8 in Las Vegas. I’ve covered the event itself in this post: Attend VeeamON, because community, which I recommend you read to get an idea what the event is all about. This post, however, is dedicated to the technical break-out session I’m preparing. What’s the session about? In short, it’s about the IaaS platform I’ve been building for the past …

VMworld 2014: DevOps, SDN and ITaaS Clouds

VMworld 2014: DevOps, SDN and ITaaS Clouds

The good folks over at VMware’s Community program have assigned me a bloggers pass to attend VMworld 2014 in San Francisco. I’m planning a full week with a mix of keynotes, technical break-out sessions and a lot of community hang time. This year’s VMworld will again feature blogger tables at the community booth in the hang space, big screens to follow the keynotes and enough room to spend some time with the Community Social Media team. As in earlier …

Tech Field Day Extra (#EVMWU14) at VMworld 2014: check!

I am very pleased to announce that I’ll once again be part of the fantastic Tech Field Day event series during VMworld 2014 in San Francisco. These events are very interesting for me as a delegate, because I can directly interact with the top technical dogs from the presenting companies and …

My take on VMware’s PEX2014

VMware Benelux has asked me to share my experiences with VMware Partner Exchange 2014. You can read that article (in Dutch) here. I figured I’d translate it to English and publish it on my blog, so here goes: Partner Exchange VMware Partner Exchange 2014 was held in San Francisco after being in Vegas the last couple of years. This VMware-partner oriented event was visited by over 4,000 attendees this year. It’s one of VMware’s main …
