On July 13th, VMware will announce three new VMware vCenter Management products.
General Availability
- VMware vCenter AppSpeed 1.0
- VMware vCenter Chargeback 1.0
Public Beta
- VMware vCenter Lifecycle Manager 1.1
Updated Release
- VMware vCenter Lab Manager 4.0
VMware vCenter Lab Manager 4 includes some much needed new features, such as:
- Support for ESXi
- Support for vSphere (ESX and ESXi version 4)
- Integration of VMware Stage Manager into Lab Manager
- Multiple workspaces (for Stage Manager)
- Multi-host network fencing (requires vNetwork Distributed vSwitch)
As a result of this major overhaul of the Lab Manager product, prices have increased slightly. Going up from $1,295 to $1,495 per processor socket.
For me, the updated Lab Manager is right on time. I desperately wanted to upgrade my Lab to vSphere, need multiple workspaces (or Stage Manager) and the next-generation network fencing is a gift from above, as the users of my Lab are keen to bring up multiple DHCP and TFTP servers!
